Free summands of syzygies of modules over local rings

چکیده
6 We give a new criterion for a commutative, noetherian, local ring to be CohenMacaulay. Additionally, we present a class of chain complexes of finitely generated free modules with finite length homology whose existence in the most general setting is crucial to the validity of the Improved New Intersection Conjecture.

$PI$-extending modules via nontrivial complex bundles and Abelian endomorphism rings
A module is said to be $PI$-extending provided that every projection invariant submodule is essential in a direct summand of the module. In this paper, we focus on direct summands and indecomposable decompositions of $PI$-extending modules. To this end, we provide several counter examples including the tangent bundles of complex spheres of dimensions bigger than or equal to 5 and certain hyper ...
متن کاملThe Monomial Conjecture and Order Ideals
In this article first we prove that a special case of the order ideal conjecture, originating from the work of Evans and Griffith in equicharacteristic, implies the Monomial conjecture due to M. Hochster. We derive a necessary and sufficient condition for the validity of this special case in terms certain Syzygis of canonical modules of normal domains possessing free summands. We also prove som...
متن کاملProjective Summands in Generators
An i?-module Mis a generator (of the category of modules) provided every module is a homomorphic image of a suitable direct sum of copies of M. Equivalently, some M has R as a summand. Except in the last section, all rings are assumed to be commutative, Noetherian domains, and modules are usually finitely generated. In this context generators are exactly those modules that have non-zero free su...
متن کاملProjective Dimension and the Singular Locus
For a Noetherian local ring, the prime ideals in the singular locus completely determine the category of finitely generated modules up to direct summands, extensions and syzygies. From this some simple homological criteria are derived for testing whether an arbitrary module has finite projective dimension.
متن کاملA Krull-Schmidt Theorem for One-dimensional Rings of Finite Cohen-Macaulay Type
This paper determines when the Krull-Schmidt property holds for all finitely generated modules and for maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules over one-dimensional local rings with finite Cohen-Macaulay type. We classify all maximal CohenMacaulay modules over these rings, beginning with the complete rings where the Krull-Schmidt property is known to hold. We are then able to determine when the Krull-Sch...
